Combat
- Combat occurs when an already controlled battlefield (BF) is contested.
- Combat can only occur when the chain is empty. When a unit contests a BF while there is a chain, combat is pending until the chain is empty.
- Only one combat can occur at a time. If two combats are pending, the turn player decides which combat to resolve first.
- Combat can only occur between units of exactly two players.
- Any attempt from a third player to move a unit into an existing combat is illegal.
Combat consists of three steps
The Showdown Step
A Showdown occurs.
The Damage Step
- Sum the
of attacking and defending units.
- Distribute damage
- Attacker announces damage distribution first, then defender.
- All requirements and restrictions must be met
- For example, units with Tank must be assigned damage first.
- If multiple units have the same restriction, the player assigning damage can choose the order.
- A unit has to be assigned lethal damage before a player can assign damage to another unit.
- Players cannot over assign damage.
- Any excess damage will be assigned to the last unit.
The Resolution Step
- Remove units with lethal damage.
- If both attacking and defending units remain at the BF, attacking units are recalled to base.
- If only attacking units remain, a point is scored and the BF is conquered.
- Contested status is cleared from the BF.
- Damage is cleared from all units at all locations.
- Cleanup is performed.
Edge Case: It is possible to score as defender if a unit moved to the BF during an open showdown (e.g. with Zenith Blade). For this case, see here.
