Spiritforged Judge FAQ - Community translation

This is a community-made translation of the Spiritforged Judge FAQ.

Last Updated: 2025/12/19

Hello everyone! The new expansion “Soulforging Tempering” for Runic Arena: League of Legends Trading Card Game (hereafter Runic Arena) has been released.
To promptly address questions regarding new rules and card effects, the Judge Team has compiled common issues and confirmed them one by one with the Design Team.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • This document may be used as a basis for judge rulings, but it is not an official FAQ.
  • It covers two aspects:
    • Card Text Adjustments – Some effects will be formally clarified in future official errata. Until then, the adjustments here apply.
    • Q&A – Examples of complex card interactions to illustrate rules interpretation.

This document reflects the latest core rules and designer responses.
Until an official FAQ is released, judges may rely on this document for rulings, including in official events.
After the official FAQ is published, the official FAQ takes precedence.
Players will later be able to view updated card text and Q&A in the in-app card database.

Card Text Adjustments

Q: Does the effect of Blood Rush persist into later rounds?
A: No. The card text will be updated to explicitly say “this round only.”

Q: Can Kato The Arm target itself with its triggered ability?
A: No. The text will be updated to specify “another friendly unit.”

Q: When playing Arise!, can I choose the Sand Soldier created by that card to become ready?
A: Yes—and you may only choose a Sand Soldier created by that card.
This was a translation error and will be corrected to ensure legal resolution.

Common Rules Q&A

2.1 Timing of Scoring Points

This occurs after all battle cleanup and derived cleanup are complete, but before control is established (between rules 444.1.a.3 and 444.2).

Q: I have 6 points. My Draven – High Stakes wins a battle for the first time this round and conquers a battlefield. Do I immediately win (8-point format)?
A: No. Draven’s ability gives the 7th point. The conquest score is converted into card draw (unless you already scored at all other battlefields).

2.2 What Counts as “During Battle”

From the start of the battle spell duel until all battle cleanup finishes.

Q: Draven is destroyed by Dark Blade during the battle spell duel. Do I still choose an opponent to gain 1 point?
A: Yes.

2.3 “Cannot Score” Effects

“Cannot score” only prevents the scoring action itself (Rule 448.1).
It does not affect conquest, defense, related triggers, or card draw replacement for the final point.

Q: I successfully defended, but Tianna Crownguard prevents scoring. Can I reduce the cost of Mega Yordle?
A: Yes.

Q1: I defended Battlefield A but scored no points due to Tianna. After destroying Tianna, can I conquer A this round?
A: No.

Q2: I already have 7 points. After destroying Tianna, can I conquer Battlefield A and win (8-point format)?
A: Yes.

Q: With 7 points, if I conquer another battlefield while Tianna controls A, do I draw a card instead?
A: Yes.

2.4 Copy Effects

“Copy” applies only to a unit’s base text.
It does not copy weapons, spells, or granted abilities.

Examples:

  • Ornn with two Sver’s Song attachments has Spell Shield 6 → Yes
  • Azir with Sver’s Song can use his skill twice in one round → Yes
  • Effects granted by spells or equipment are not copied.

Echoes

Yes, each extra Echo cost can be reduced independently.

Example: Ezreal – Prodigy reduces both Echo payments.

2.6 Cost of Tokens

Tokens have a cost of 0 when referenced.

Q: Can Back-Alley Thief destroy a “Coin” equipment token?
A: Yes.

Other Common Card Q&A (Selected Examples)

  • Guardian Angel cannot be replaced by destroying another unattached Guardian Angel, but can be replaced by Zhonya’s Hourglass.
  • Long Sword’s Equip ability does not gain Reaction.
  • Bellows Breath with Echo can damage multiple or repeated targets.
  • A battlefield controlled by a single enemy unit will still open a non-battle spell duel when Hostile Takeover resolves.
  • Multiple Echo choices count as separate selections.
  • Equipment remains attached after Seize Control, but ownership does not change.
  • Destroyed equipped units return equipment to the equipment controller’s base.
  • Choices for multi-mode spells or skills are made at confirmation, not resolution.
  • Effects that snapshot power use values at resolution time.
  • Tokens being played do not count as “playing a card” for cost reductions.
  • Copying, conquering, defending, recall timing, and exile interactions are clarified throughout
